Transition

Communities that do not have fiber will be transitioned to BPL (Broadband over Power Line) services. This will replace cellular, coaxial, dialup and DSL. Since there will be no need for a telephone jack, or coaxial jack in the communications closet – there will be no legacy nor obsolete technologies. All renovations, and new construction will be wired to accept fiber optic even if the technology is not yet available. BPL will suffice, and make things much easier. If there is a problem with the modem, then the customer will replace the modem. There is no need to try to figure out what service they have since it is either BPL or fiber.

For communities that have fiber will be re-wired for RJ45 rather than the more proprietary coaxial. Some fiber providers used coaxial as the termination point so they can push a modem to the subscriber. Such connections will be converted to RJ45, and one could plug directly into the RJ45-WAN connection which is the way things should have been in the first place.
