x11 Dialing

As noted in another page, x stands for numbers 0-9. With that said, these are all of the x11 numbers one might call. These numbers are intended to make life easier for everyone using the telephone network. All providers must support these numbers. However, there might be a feature that will not work on foreign SIP phone lines.

011 or 00

011 is to access an international dialing code. For example, to call my voicemail line, the subscriber will dial 011 1 (country code) 4123608462. With cellular phones, they can use + which they should prepend the + in all foreign contacts. In the event that the subscriber wishes to know the rates, they should be able to find it at their provider’s website. Personally, I (living in the US) will prepend all of my contacts’ telephone numbers with +.

111

Dialing 111 will access SIP Broker. Just like international dialing, this will dial outside of the telephone network. However, unlike international dialing – all calls to SIP Broker will be free. The only difference to SIP Broker dialing is the subscriber doesn’t prepend the *. Therefore to call me using SIP Broker, they will dial 111 011-18556829751. This is because of the tight integration that the network has done to move to VOIP solutions as standard. In addition, Kaldus will seek to get the dial code of 883 for their customers. This will make the number more memorable for people to call either by traditional telephone, or through SIP Broker.

211

211 is National Charity Services. This service will provide emergency housing, and link people with charity resources that will benefit them. For example, if someone lost their residence, and they are a single person, they might be able to get an SRO from National Charity Services (if available). If the household is a family, then a homeless shelter catered to families will make much more sense. Other options of assistance will be food assistance, and help in acquiring essentials that will otherwise be unaffordable.

311

311 is county government. Depending on which county the caller would be located will depend on which office they ring to. From there, they can acquire information regarding issues with the county. With that said, one does not have to try to remember the full telephone number for the county information/help line. 311 does not work on lines outside of Kaldus, however a local government entity can choose to have a regular Kaldan telephone number.

411

One can either send an RCS/SMS message to 411 (free), or call 411 (possible cost). This is the directory assistance center which will provide telephone numbers based on the entity, and which county they are located. This will make things much easier for find the correct information. Sending a message to 411 is available on cellular phones only. Calling will be able to be done on landline phones, but might be an extra charge by the telephone provider.

511

The Department of Infrastructure is in charge of managing the lines of infrastructure that is needed. In regards to this number, it is in regards of underground utilities. The digger must call the Department of Infrastructure, and they must come in to mark where lines are. Each type of line will be marked with a particular color, and is designed to keep the digger from damaging the line. If a digger digs without calling this number to get their utilities marked will be fined on top of repairing any damages they made. 511 will not work outside of Kaldus.

611

The provider’s customer service line is always 611. If the provider offers multiple communications services, then they should be able to reach that particular customer service department by calling 611. This also works with terrestrial lines too. In some countries, dialing 611 will only work with cellular phones, this will not be the case. It just has to have a Kaldan number calling the line. The service provider should also have a standard telephone number.

711

This is contact emergency services in the event that it is not an emergency. For example, if their residence was robbed, and the thieves are no longer there – then they would dial 711 to reach dispatch services. Dispatch can either take their issue over the phone, and if need be – send an officer to the scene. The same will apply for ambulance, and fire services.

I’m in the US, and people in the US would see 711 for TTY services. However, RCS and SMS has basically made that service obsolete especially as more people move to cellular. A hearing impaired person will just send an RCS, or SMS message to the party they wish to communicate with, and it will be that simple. No need for a TTY operator, or rules on how to intercommunicate with the hearing impaired person. All businesses should have at least one line that supports SMS, and a person to handle such communications.

811

811 is the Mental Health Emergency line. This can be the person suffering from an immediate and challenging episode, suicidal, or might need to be admitted into a mental health hospital. Other people can call 811 for emergency service for someone else if they feel they are having a mental health emergency. When dispatch sends out someone to the location, they will always arrive in a Mental Health Line vehicle with a mental health social worker, and a plain clothes police officer. The police officer is to insure that everyone involved remains safe.

911

The National Emergency Line is to be called when there is a fire, medical emergency, or police emergency. When calling 911, dispatch will send the appropriate service. If the 911 dispatch feels this might be a mental health emergency, the operator will transfer the caller to 811 service.
